Starting at 8am was the 10k- 6.2 miles. My fellow nurse travel friend, Jill, and I ran the race together. It was her first running race and she did awesome! The start and finish was located at the Mustangs at Las Colinas -- see previous post. Most of the race was along the trail covered in the shade of the trees-- it was great! Also we ran along the banks of a river and the cool breeze felt amazing as the sweat dripped on my face. Along the race were water/powerade stations and at one place with wet paper towels. Again it was HOT and the paper towel was great to help relieve the extreme heat.
My favorite part was the food at the finish line-- pancakes, chili, jamba juice smoothies, muscle milk, wine, vitamin water, beer, apples, oranges & bananas. It was great!
Opening in 1984 the Mustangs at Las Colinas are the largest horse scluptures in the world!! Located in Williams Square in Irving (near Dallas) are nine realistic bronze horse scluptures are running across a stream.
