Skim Boarding

One afternoon at my favorite place in the San Diego area-- La Jolla beach. I love to come here to see all the wild life-- harbor seals, sea lions, pelicans, sea gulls, and more!!  Here are a few pictures of people out skimboarding at the beach.

According to wikipedi here's the definition-- skimboarding is a boardsport in which a skimboard (a smaller counterpart to a surfboard) is used to glide across the water's surface. Unlike surfing, skimboarding begins on the beach, it starts with the dropping of the board onto the thin wash of previous waves. They may use their momentum to 'skim' out to breaking waves, which they then catch back into shore in a manner similar to surfing.
