Craziest little trip to San Antonio

7:30 Josh & Laurie's Wedding

SATURDAY

7:00 wide awake.

8:00 breakfast with Maribeth at Las Palapas

9:30 oil change

10:00- visit with Fatman Belton

10:30 Farmer's Market with Mom & Julie, ran into D & Jim Schattel

12:00 Zoo with mom, meet Boo- new Asian elephant

1:30 nap :)

4:00 meet up with Nicole @ the rim

5:00 Oak Hills Church- Rich Stearns, World Vision US President, speaks

6:15 meet Rich and get his autograph!

6:25 refuel my car

6:45 bbq dinner at Josh & Lauries

7:45 drive back to Dallas

Thursday in New Orleans

Arriving in New Orleans in the afternoon I made my way to Audubon Park to visit the zoo. I just love going to zoos and other touristy attractions to all the new places that I visit. Having traveled to cities all across America I have discovered that not every attraction is created equal. However, this zoo and park is fabulous!!

AUDUBON ZOO

Named after John James Audubon- the famous guy who painted and cataloged the birds of North America. The zoo was established in 1884 for the World's Fair and is home to over 2,000 animals. The zoo covers 58 acres and the animals seemed to have adequate space to roam and play. Even though I much prefer to see these magnificent animals in the wild like on safari in Kenya but that is not always possible. My favorite exhibits here were the gorillas, white tigers, Louisiana swamp, and the white alligators. 

FRENCH QUARTER

Also known as Vieux Carre is the oldest and most famous neighborhood in New Orleans. The city was founded in 1718 by Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne de Bienville and the city was centered in the French Quarter. Here there are many historical homes and buildings. The quarter covers an area of about 85 blocks.  Famous areas include Jackson Square where St. Louis Cathedral is located, Cafe Du Monde, and Bourbon Street.

 

  

 

 

Having a BLAST in Houston :)

Well I certainly did not waste any time getting around and seeing tons here in Houston. I only wish Julie was with me so our amazing fun times together could continue.

Plus after my weekend jam packed with fun I made it back to my hotel with time to watch the New Orleans Saints win the Superbowl!

Houston Zoo

After being in Houston for just one week and having rain almost everyday all day long. The weekend came and the weather was wonderful!! So I took complete advantage of the nice weather and went to one of my favorite places to visit in new towns- the zoo!!!!
